Uncle Eddie's World

Folk Art Landscape Sculptures Wood Carvings

Uncle Eddie's sculptures were  recently featured at  the 2006 New England Flower Show, which is the largest indoor event in New England, and the third largest event of its kind in the world. Here are a few pictures of the display.

Folk artist Eddie Foisy creates incredibly imaginative works of art from his workshop located somewhere on Cape Cod. Perhaps his inspiration comes from the ghosts rumored to dwell in the attic of his 19th century home, but after closer inspection, one is more likely to credit gnomes, elves, or fairies.

His talents are extensive, ranging from whimsical wood carvings, herbal tinctures, (he is well versed in herb lore) garden landscape and design, basket weaving, to gourmet cooking, (he was a chef in a former life). But the true magic of Uncle Eddie's art can be appreciated only after a tour through his elfin garden, where his specialty, hand crafted landscape sculptures are on display.

If by chance, you are roaming the back roads of the Cape some foggy morning, you may happen upon this mystical place. Though guarded by Cashmere goats, sunflowers, and light spirits, some have said the garden may magically appear out of the mist to those in the perfect frame of mind. Tread lightly and keep a sharp eye out, because things are not always as they first appear. Tiny stone stairways lead to hidden rock entrances. Miniature ladders provide access for the elusive occupants. Meticulously crafted stone castles overlook herbal plantings and white pebble walkways. Frogs, snakes, and goldfish share their pond with dragonflies, turtles, and butterflies.

Perhaps you will happen upon Uncle Eddie himself and be treated to a tour of his unique workshop, where he creates his works of art.
